The cringe factor for experts
How often do social media users reveal their mishaps and mistakes? Iva Sveshtarova and Willy Prager are launching an alternative to digital high-gloss images. The artist duo from Sofia deals with the theme of shame and scorn in its performance "Shamebox”. With lowered heads they slide kneeling across the stage, spit milk at each other and sometimes risk ending up with Botox lips. Two enfants terribles whose boundless curiosity ruthlessly turns moral values upside down. The audience can shame others in another performance, too: the "Truth-box”. Inspired by the text collection of the same name by the Tunisian author Meriam Bousselmi, a kind of "literary confessional”, the director Wojtek Klemm (known for his body-accented theater), the Constanza Macras dancer Johanna Lemke and the composer Albrecht Ziepert all deal with the topic of truth. Is there such a thing as reliance on a collective memory? And do we still have the time to understand (ourselves)?
