Julyen Hamilton improvises in DOCK 11
An improviser – this certainly applies to almost any person to a certain extent. Julyen Hamilton, on the other hand, has made a career out of this most spontaneous form of expression amongst the arts.
For over forty years now he has been traveling the world, dancing for himself and others, in workshops and on stage. In his performances, the Englishman combines movement, voice and his own poetic texts. In March, Hamilton and his Allen’s Line company already staged the piece "Goat Ocean” at DOCK 11; coming in July, his solo piece "The Forerunner” – premiered in Brussels in 2014 – will be on tap. As a "pioneer of the next moment”, he will create the necessary conditions via his dancing body to entertain heart and mind, both vocally and linguistically. (cm)
