Not for Children!
Five solos with coffee
Certainly C. G. Hering, who composed famous children’s songs like "Morgen, Kinder, wird’s was geben” had only the best of intentions when he penned "C A F F E E” around 1800. In his warning to young people about the dangers of the "Turkish drink” he penned his awkward lines: "Don’t be a Musulman, who can’t do without it”. 200 years later, one is still warned about a plethora of dangers, although caffeine is no longer as high up on the list. That which seems to be foreign, however, is. While the exotic serves as a sales argument for everything from mocha beans to skin color, it also serves as a source for skepticism and apprehension. Coffee and this canonical children’s song thus offer plenty of controversial fodder for the five choreographers invited by post theater: Bahar Gökten, Kira Senkpiel, Magali Sanderfett, Yui Kawaguchi and Diane Busuttil and their multimedia dance theater piece, whose concept won the Bremen Author and Producer Award in 2010.
