One Cello, Six Suites
Rosas dance once more to Bach
The Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is known for her almost mathematically precise transitions of complex musical structures in motion. Her latest work is bearing the promisingly intricate title "Mitten wir im Leben sind / Bach6Cellosuiten” and revisits her interest in Bach after the choreographies "Toccata” (1993), "Zeitung” (2008) and "Partita 2” (2013). She has devoted herself to the cello suites, a mammoth work of the musical history, in close collaboration with the renowned cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras. Five dancers (among them De Keersmaker herself) dance to the live baroque tones and give them a new, contemporary look. How much (un)heard dance music is there in Bach?
