Tanzbüro workshop on the application of Augmented Reality in contemporary dance
Information workshop on the 21st of February 2019 at Uferstudios Berlin
Project coordinator Maja Stark and media artist Dagmar Schürrer will present the AURORA School for ARtists at the information workshop on 21 February 2019. Afterwards we would like to open a discussion about the possibilities and limits of the topic within the dance scene.
Augmented Reality, the computer-supported extension of the perception of reality, is already being used in various places in the art and entertainment sectors in order to reach a broader – especially younger – audience interactively or playfully. Reality is supplemented by virtual elements and works can be presented multidimensionally in a play with perception, e.g. in the form of (body) projections during performances, interactive tickets, etc. The audience can also interact with the perception of the work.
Supported by the Senate Department for Culture and Europe and the EU, the AURORA School for ARtists at the HTW Berlin offers creative people from Berlin’s independent scene the opportunity to further their education in the field of Augmented Reality. Once every six months, five consecutive courses are offered, which can be taken en bloc or individually. For participants of the training courses there are also jobs in the AURORA Production Lab, where the best app concepts can be implemented with the support of AR specialists from computer science and media art. The next round of the AURORA School for ARtists starts in March – prior knowledge is not required and the courses are free of charge apart from a flat-rate catering fee.
A project development in exchange with opinions and experience from dancers, creators and institutions of the dance scene as well as the analysis of potentials is expressly desired by the AURORA project.
Date: Thursday, 21st February 2019 from 14:00-16:00 o’clock
Location: Uferstudios (Studio 13), Uferstr. 23, 13357 Berlin, Germany
The workshop is free of charge. The presentation of the project will be held in German and the discussion afterwards will be open for questions, comments and opinions in both languages – German and English. If you are interested, we look forward to receiving your registration by 14th February 2019 at the latest by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
