Gala to mark the 20th anniversary of the Berlin State Ballet
The Staatsballett Berlin is turning 20 – a reason to celebrate! Under the musical direction of Maria Seletskajades, herself a former solo dancer in the ensemble of the Staatsballett Berlin, artistic director Christian Spuck will be hosting a magnificent anniversary gala: Popular works such as George Balanchine’s Tschaikovsky Pas de Deux and William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated will be featured, along with choreographies by Samantha Lynch, Douglas Lee and many more. Also on the program are large ensemble scenes from Patrice Bart’s Swan Lake, William Forsythe’s Blake Works I and Christian Spuck’s Bovary. Elisa Carrillo Cabrera, long-standing principal dancer with the Staatsballett Berlin, will also be taking her personal leave of the company and the audience in a solo, Tué, by Marco Goecke. (jw)
