A new production by Constanza Macras / Dorkypark at the Volksbühne

Does reality only exist when someone is actually observing it? The Hunger, the new production by Constanza Macras / Dorkypark, is inspired by historical events in South America at the beginning of the 16th century: after an indigenous group in the north of what is now Argentina has attacked Spanish colonizers, the sole survivor integrates himself into the tribal society of the Colastiné — much later he is liberated and reflects on his memories. Based on cannibalistic rituals, The Hunger explores other forms of greed: from colonialism to the consumer frenzy of capitalism to the hyperproduction of an interminable Now in social networks. The aim is to explore forms of excess and scrutinize the representational logic of social media. (jw)
