DANCE ROUND TABLE

Continuation of structural measures to strengthen the dance sector in the 2022/2023 double budget

In spring, we are eagerly awaiting the evaluations of the first pilot phases of the RTT (Round Table Dance) measures, as well as the three concepts of the steering groups for the interlinked structures of the Dance Archive, the Dance Communication Center and the House for Dance and Choreography. In the 2022/2023 draft double budget, 1.295 million euros have been earmarked for the further implementation of the total of 7 structure-strengthening measures, and thus only a fraction of the approx. 6 million that the RTT's final report had already identified in 2018 as the minimum annual requirement for the further implementation of structural strengthening for the dance sector. In order to implement a decades-old project for Berlin dance, a house for dance and choreography, binding agreements are needed. Together with the Berlin dance scene, politics and administration must find concrete solutions for the next steps of implementation on the basis of the conception phase, the results of which will be available at the end of April - it is a concern that cannot be postponed again. For the upcoming budget negotiations, the TanzRaumBerlin network, together with ZTB e.V. and Tanzbüro, has submitted a proposal for the distribution of the funds currently in prospect.
